An Obsolete specification is a specification that has been identified unnecessary to the FIPA standard. Such a specification may have been rendered unnecessary due to technology changes or changes in other standards or FIPA specifications. All Obsolete specifications have an informal specification identifier that begins with ‘O’.
A specification can be made Obsolete from the Deprecated status after its grace period has expired.
A specification can be retrieved from Obsolete status at a later date, if it is deemed necessary with the approval from the FIPA Architecture Board and the FIPA membership. The Obsolete specification becomes a Preliminary status specification with a new document identifier.
